Biomechanical Assessment & Musculoskeletal therapy

A biomechanical assessment examines the way in which you walk. The podiatrist will examine your gait and make recommendations like the use of an orthotic or prescribe exercises for you to complete.

Where there is an underlying pathology the podiatrist may treat this condition conservatively or refer you to the appropriate specialist like a podiatric surgeon or an orthopaedic surgeon.

For individuals who want to improve their biomechanical function to improve their sports performance and reduce the risk of injury the podiatrist can make recommendations regarding sports shoes and prescribe exercises.

Nail surgery

The clinic offers nail surgery under local anesthetic to individuals who have had an initial consultation and the podiatrist has recommemded surgery as an appropriate course of treatment.

Common reasons for nail surgery are ingrowing toe nails. The nail may require total removal or partial removal to resolve the condition. The podiatrist will recommend during the assessment what type of removal is required to resolve the nail condition.

The toe nails occasionally grow painfully thick and can be painlessly removed under local anaesthetic to prevent discomfort whilst walking and ulceration under the nail.

To prevent unwanted nail regrowth the podiatrist will use a chemical called Phenol 98% to destroy the unwanted nail matrix.

Your podiatrist will discuss this in further detail at the assessment appointment.
